Maybe all of the versions of Atr aircrafts (ATR 42-300/42-320/42-500, ATR 72-200/72-210/72-500 and new generation ATR 72-600) are the most prominent airplanes with propellers. Propeller airplane like ATR or Bombardier Dash 8 are commonly used by major airlines for short-distance operations. This is the story of the ATR 42/72 – one of the most modern representatives of this type. in the 1950s, propellers were saved from extinction by the mass introduction of gas turbine engines in civil aviation.
Propeller planes are smaller in size and have a smaller passenger capacity, but this propeller models are safe as at least other planes. In recent years ATR, Short Brothers, Saab, Dornier, Fokker these manufacturers produced propeller aircraft models. All models of some manufacturers consist of propeller aircraft. Others have produced aircraft with both jet engines and propellers. For example, all models of ATR consist of propeller aircraft. Fokker has both propeller and jet engine aircraft.
The ATR 42 and ATR 72 continue to be manufactured and successfully sold throughout the world. About 200 airline companies across the world use the type. Along with the success of the ATR 42, the company received enquiries about the possibility of creating a somewhat bigger aircraft with the same excellent properties. Thus, ATR 72 continue to be manufactured and successfully sold throughout the world. the 42-500, 72-500 model was put into production, featuring more powerful, quieter and economical engines, improved electronics and added passenger comfort. The venture became known as ATR. ATR launched the design of a small passenger plane powered by two turboprop engines. The machine became known as the ATR 42 and conducted its maiden flight on 16 August 1984. on 27 October 1988, a 4.5 m (14.7 ft) longer ATR 72 (the figure once again standing for seating capacity) made its maiden flight.
